This summer we did some little science projects from a kit Nolan got for his birthday. The kids were pretty excited about them and it's neat to see their enthusiasm for science. We started with a spider that you soak in water for 7 days and watch it grow. Each day we measured it and saw how much bigger it was.
On this day, we used some dye pellets to create 3 different colors to play with. They were red, yellow and blue. Then we used these little droppers to mix the colors.
With each drop of new color added, the kids could see how the primary colors can be mixed to make the secondary colors.
It was fun to make guesses as to what would happen and then see if we were right! We also added more and more droplets to a particular color and watched that color deepen. Pretty cool!
At the end the kids each chose the color they liked the most. Maya picked turquoise and Nolan picked a lavender/gray.
