Half Birthday!!

I thought I'd include in this post one of the ways I have been using my chalkboard in the kitchen with the kids.  Each day we have a letter of the day and the kids help me think of words we know that start with that letter.  Maya's words are in pink, Nolan's in blue, and my words are in yellow.  It's a good chance to talk about a big vocabulary word that we can work on too (See catastrophe).  The kids seem to enjoy it and they love picking a new color each day for their words.

On July 9th, the kids celebrated their half-birthday!  It is a special day around here because the kids get to say they are FOUR AND A HALF!  We had a fun day together, the 3 of us, even though Darin was out of town for work.

We started with a Young Explorers class and then had swim lessons.  After picking up their choice of lunch take-out (mac and cheese from Noodles and Co. for Maya and Grilled Cheese from Jason's Deli for Nolan), we decorated sugar cookies with pink and blue frosting and special sprinkles.

Bunny for Maya....

And a dinosaur for Nolan.

Finally we ended our day with a trip to the movie theater to see Monster's University!!!  The kids LOVED it and I enjoyed watching it with them.  Both kids took turns sitting in my lap during the scary parts.  :)

I can't believe we are on our way to having two 5-year-olds!  My how time flies!
