Spring fun at home!

As a late birthday gift, my friend Emily made Maya and Nolan these capes.  Aren't they cute??

Superheros!!!

Most of the kids toys/animals/dolls are named panda or bear or doggie.  Maya recently declared the first original name for her dolly...Glinky. Here she is snuggling her favorite little girl.  I love watching the kids blossom in their creativity and personalities!

Nolan loves to help daddy around the house.  He loves to use his tools to fix things and this loose door stop was the perfect opportunity to put those skills to work!

He also has gotten very interested in cooking with me.  He loves to measure, pour and stir in ingredients and it is fun to see his excitement.  I pull the stool over and let him have at it!
I think on this day we were making zucchini bread for our neighbors who just had a baby.
And another day he wanted to help me snap the ends off the beans and put them into a pot to cook.
Our finished beans!  Ready to put on the stove!
Maya is sometimes interested in helping out too.  I decided to give them a mixing project on their own while I made chicken cordon bleu for dinner one night.  I got a bowl of flour, some measuring cups and spoons, and some of my old spices that were probably expired.  The kids poured, stirred, and mixed their little hearts out and I had some time to make my dinner.
It has been a wonderful spring so far and I am enjoying my time at home with my kids.  I feel so lucky to have this special time with them!!

  1. Fun pics! Nolan and Cole are a lot alike - like to help Daddy around the house and help cook too!

  2. Those capes are great, how fun they each have their initial on them! What a great idea to get out flour and spices and let them mix and play around, I'm totally going to do that. When I read that post I thought, Gretchen made chicken cordon bleu, what a gourmet!! :)
