Maya's 2 Year Stats!
Weight: 24 lbs (20th percentile)
Height: 32" (25th percentile)
Favorite things to do: Maya loves to be picked up, give hugs and kisses, and snuggle. She loves to read and likes to play in her new kitchen. Maya carries various babies around the house and sometimes in the car (baby dolls, bunny, Curious George). She also loves to push the lawnmower in a circle around the living room and kitchen. When we play outside, she enjoys sitting in her cozy coupe and have Mommy or Nolan push her around. She is also big into light switches and closing doors.
Favorite foods: Cottage cheese! She is also a big drinker and asks for milk or water a lot. Maya loves fruit and vegetables and has a fantastic appetite. She has been out-eating Nolan for months now! Some of her favorites also include goldfish crackers, pancakes with "dip" (maple syrup), blackberries, peas, chicken nuggets, toast, and scrambled eggs with cheese.
Favorite toys: Baby dolls, stuffed animals that make sounds (music and talking), little girl laptop, play kitchen with play food, tea set and cups, our brown rectangle tote to sit in.
Favorite books: Ain't Gonna Paint No More, Barnyard Dance, Brown Bear Brown Bear What do you see (she can read the book to me!), Elmo books, The Potty Book, Olivia, Big Red Barn, Pajama Time.
Favorite songs: At night I ask the kids which song they want me to sing to go night-night. Maya always replies, "Frog song. No frog song, duck song" After that, she usually asks for the horsie song or moon song. She also loves the Laurie Berkner CD...especially the Dine-dine (dinosaur) song. She also loves Wheels on the Bus, Happy and you know it, Head Shoulders Knees and Toes.
Favorite things to say: Maya talks all the time!! She is speaking in 5-word phrases such as "Daddy turn Maya fan off." or "Mommy get Yaya blueberry muffin too." She loves to say sorry, even when she is the one who deserves an apology. Maya loves to say all 4 of our names at dinner time. She has even started saying, "Daddy Darin, Mommy Gretchen." She asks for help a lot (Hep Mommy), asks to be picked up (Up peese), and asks for kisses on her ouchies (kees mommy). Maya also says, "fommo me" or "Come me Ya-ya" when she wants you to follow her.
Milestones: Maya is so great at sharing her toys. She gets upset when Nolan steals something from her, but once she gets her toy back, she is happy to give it immediately back to Nolan on her own terms. If there is 2 of something, she let's Nolan have the color he wants and she takes the other one. She is such a lover....she loves to give hugs and kisses to everyone. Even her brother! She has also recently won the unofficial "most enthusiastic" award at Children's Day Out, according to her teachers. She squeals with delight, hopping up and down while flapping her arms when she is happy about something. So hilarious to watch! She also knows her colors including black, white, gray, brown and pink. And Maya can count to 10!
Another unique thing about Maya is her teething fevers. For about a year now, she has been getting very high fevers for a few days at a time. The highest I measured was 104.9, the longest has been for 8 days. We have determined that they are teething fevers! They come in clusters (1-2 a month and then a break for a couple of months) and she handles them great.
