Settling in

Darin and I got a day to sneak away for our birthday this year again while Bob and Gayla watched the kids.  The past few years we have tried to see some of the sights of Kansas City and this year we decided to see the WWI museum at the Liberty Memorial.  We also took the elevator to the top of the tower!

Here is the view from the top of the tower...Union Station and downtown.  The museum was so educational and we learned a lot walking through it.  Definitely another KC gem that we are happy to have seen.
That is the tower we were up on top of!

We are settling into our apartment now.  The kids have the master bedroom together and they are really enjoying sharing a room.  Here is a glimpse into our bedtime routine...Darin brushing the kids teeth before book time.  We were able to fit a lot of their toys and books to make it look like home.
Here is Maya's half of the room.  She has pink curtains on her window, Nolan has red curtains on his.  They use the huge master closet as their playroom.  :)
We have also made some trips to visit Gramma and Grampa this summer.  They have a new park going in behind their house and it is almost as if it is being built for us!  The first day we visited Darin and Gayla were wearing their K-State purple and holding hands on our walk.  :)
Here we are on the bridge in the park!  It will be so cool when they finish it but for now the kids are having fun riding their scooters on the sidewalk.  Playground to come soon!
Another visit we have made is to Grandad's house.  I am always so calmed and inspired by Grandad's garden and find myself constantly taking pictures.  The kids love running the path around his house and it gives Grandad and I a chance to visit.
This is my favorite view--the one outside the kitchen window.  Gran would always comment that it was her favorite view and she liked staring out her kitchen window while doing dishes.  Beautiful!
Grandad showed Maya some interesting things about his plants...
One of my favorite trees--the globe katsura.
One day last week when we visited, we all sat down and did some weeding.  I love watching the kids help out!

We have been finding lots of things to do this summer to keep our minds and bodies busy in this transition time.  One thing is for sure...I certainly love spending my days with my sweeties.
