Halloween 2013!

The day before Halloween, Maya and Nolan had their Halloween parade at school.  Seeing their little buddies parade around in their costumes was pretty cute.  This year Nolan wanted to be The Flash/Iron Man and Maya wanted to be a unicorn again.  Funny story:  I have learned that Nolan saw a cartoon with the superhero "The Flash" with Darin awhile back.  Flash can do everything at super speed...run fast, think fast, etc.  So when Nolan was asked what he wanted to be for Halloween, he told me he wanted to be Flash.  I didn't know who/what that was! One day we were walking through Costco and Nolan saw an Iron Man costume for sale.  He yelled out, "There Mommy!  There is Flash!  I want to be Flash!"  So I bought the costume!  I just though he called Iron Man "Flash" and never realized they were two separate characters!

So here are our little unicorn and Iron Man/Flash in their school Halloween Parade.

And here is most of the class at the end.  Nolan and Maya are on the left hand side.  I couldn't fit in the whole class because I couldn't scoot back anymore, but there are 2 kids who got cut off on the right.  Cute costumes.

At school they are also doing something called "Star of the Day."  Each child gets his/her turn to be the Star of the Day and bring in a favorite toy, favorite book, and a poster with lots of pictures that are special to him/her.  Then at the start of class they get to do a little show-and-tell with their favorite objects.  Maya and Nolan went back-to-back school days and although I had to miss Nolan's because I was working, I got to stay and watch Maya do her little presentation.  It was adorable.  Her teacher Miss Michelle helped her show off her items.

It has been so beautiful here with the fall color this year.  I think a late rainy season made for some fantastic colors and I have also been trying to practice my photography so I decided to put in these pictures of our neighbor's tree I took.  Gorgeous color.

On Halloween day we went over to Bob and Gayla's house to trick-or-treat and say hello.  They answered the door with their "costumes" on of course! Maya and Nolan thought that was pretty funny.

Each year, I try and get a photo or two of the kids in their Halloween costumes.  Bob and Gayla's yard provided the backdrop this year.

My sweeties.
And that evening, we went trick-or-treating with Maya and Nolan's buddies Lia and Henry.  Lia has been in Maya and Nolan's preschool class for 2 years now and we have gotten to be good friends with their family.  They had some other friends Maya and Nolan's age going as well and we made a sweet little trick-or-treating group in their neighborhood.  We had a wonderful Halloween!!
