We have been having some more fun at the Schmanke house! I pulled out our watercolor paints the other day and decided to take some pictures of the kids painting in their art smocks. They love it!
Maya is painting ME a picture. She always says that. "Mommy, I'm painting a picture for you Mommy. For YOU!" :) Yes, she says Mommy twice.
Loving our art time!
We also decided to try some shaving cream fun, inspired by friends of mine who do this. We have a perfect big countertop for this type of playing!
I tried to get the kids to draw letters in their shaving cream and spell their names, but smearing the mess around was a lot more fun. At least for Nolan.
Ahhhh. An artist in the making. He is literally standing in his chair to get more coverage!
This is how Maya felt about the activity. She did NOT like getting messy. She hated that she couldn't get the shaving cream off her hand.
Once she got all cleaned up, she just watched Nolan play and encouraged him, as usual!
Last week after our first extended day of preschool, we had quite the funny event. I was on the phone with my mom and Nolan got into a bit of trouble. He found a lap desk that was full of millions of styrofoam balls and dumped them out on the floor. ALL of them. Millions.
While "helping" me clean up, he thought it would be fun to pour some on his head. This was, in fact, the opposite of helping. But it was such a mess that it didn't really matter! I had to laugh.
Those styrofoam balls were so full of static that they stuck to everything...hands, cups, shirts, etc. You can see on this picture of Nolan. It was hard to "pour" them back into the lap desk because they would just cling to the cup.
After we got most of it cleaned up, I had to vacuum up the rest. Maya was SO TIRED from her extended day at school that she fell asleep in the car on the way home, slept through me moving her onto the couch, slept through the messy fiasco, and slept while I vacuumed up the carpet all around her! Now THAT is one tired girl!
And finally, here is a mediocre picture of a cute yarn wreath I made last week. Please excuse my unattractive door!
Happy Fall!!!
