Half Birthday!

So I'm going to jump a tad bit out of order and write about Maya and Nolan's half birthday today!

Today the kids turned 3 1/2 and I thought it would be a fun day to teach them about halves...but in reality I just want an excuse to celebrate something!

For breakfast, I cut some paper plates in half, cut toast in half, halved a banana and some grapes, and also gave them a half glass of milk!
They loved it!  We did something similar for lunch too.  Sandwiches, strawberries, carrots, etc.  :)
Another spur-of-the-moment event was a stop at the grocery store.  I got each kid a balloon for their "birthday" which they have had fun playing with.  There is just something fun about helium!
This evening, we decided to go out for pizza at a neighborhood bar and grill.  Yum!
And for dessert, cupcakes!! Gwyn came over this afternoon and helped me decorate cupcakes for the kids.  Nolan requested monsters and Maya requested Hello Kitty.
 Success!!
Weirdly enough, my favorite monster cupcake was also Nolan's too!  He chose that one to eat for dessert!!!
And Maya chose one of the Hello Kitty ones!
Both kids ended up with colorful tongues and hands, but I think the cupcakes were a hit!
We also decided to have a family movie night...Toy Story 2!
It was fun to have an excuse to celebrate our family and do something special!!  Happy 3 1/2 Maya and Nolan!!

  1. Oh my, what a great mom you are! What a fun fun 1/2 birthday party! LOVE the idea of doing everything in halves, I'm totally going to steal that idea. You've made me motivated to celebrated half birthdays again, I missed Jackson's but maybe I'll celebrate Cooper's here in a month! :)
