Spring Break!!!

We had an outstanding spring break this year.  We had lots of things planned and although we didn't get to do it all, we had plenty of fun in the meantime.  To start off this post, I had to start with the picture of Maya and Nolan.  One morning Nolan was trying to let Piper inside but the door was sticking.  So Maya stepped in and decided to help out.  She kept saying, "Pull harder, No-an!"  So cute!!!

Monday we went to our music class and Tuesday we decided to have a picnic and play time at the park.  It was a beautiful day and lots of people had the same idea we did!

After playtime we decided to have our picnic lunch!! The kids helped me find a beautiful spot on the grass and we had such a peaceful time eating our sandwiches.  Nolan wanted to feed the ducks and geese so we saved our bread crusts and brought them down to the pond to share!

Quack quack!! Come and get your lunch, ducks!

Wednesday we went to a puppet show called Peter and the Wolf.  Maya and Nolan LOVE the music and story and we listen to it a lot at home.  We were so excited to be able to see the play too!  I forgot my camera so didn't get any shots of them.

Thursday we had plans to meet our Mother's of Multiples family play date at Leapin' Lizards, an inflatable play place near our house.  Unfortunately, a couple of hours before we left, Nolan took quite a spill at home and busted his lip pretty badly.  Poor guy!  It was in such bad shape that he had trouble eating without opening up the wound so we decided we had to skip our play date.

Nolan is doing great now and he didn't need stitches, which was great.  On Friday evening we had a cousin's play date!  We grilled out and while the boys bottled the beer they had made.  It should be ready in a week or so!  Lana  helped put the kids to bed by reading some bedtime stories.
I think Gwyn got suckered into reading a couple of books too for bedtime.  Pinkalicious!

On Saturday it was St. Patrick's Day!  We were lucky enough to have the ice cream man come down our street and so the kids just had to get a treat!  Maya picked out the cookies and cream drumstick....

And Nolan picked out the biggest-looking ice cream bar he could see--a chocolate and banana bomb pop.

Success!!!

Isn't she sweet??

Finger-lickin' good!
Maya was in an especially silly mood and played hide-and-seek with my camera.  Peek-a-boo!

 Messy face!
This was the best picture I could get of the kids on St. Patrick's Day.  The ice cream man was coming and they were excited!

Plenty of time to play outside and enjoy the gorgeous weather!
That evening, we went to our neighbor's house for a St. Patrick's Day feast.  They have a son about Nolan's age and the 3 kids get along so great.  I made these rainbow cupcakes to bring with us.

Then on Sunday we went to a special Dinosaur Exhibit at the Overland Park Convention Center called Jurassic Journey.

There were lots of museum-quality dinosaurs that moved and roared like the real thing!  The kids even got to push buttons to get the dinos to move.

Maya decided to roar at a dinosaur.

The dinosaurs roared back!

 Kids with the T-Rex!

Mommy and kids having fun!
At the end, there were all the activities that the kids could do.  We let the kids choose 1 activity to do and they both chose the bounce house.  After quite a long wait, Maya finally looked inside the bounce house and decided it was too loud and scary for her.  After checking out every other activity, she decided she wanted to pan for gold.
Ahhhh....much more Maya's speed.  First we dunked our bag of rocks and sand in the water and watched all the sand filter through the screen.  The leftovers were the bigger pieces for Maya to pick through to find the gems and fool's gold to take home!

We had a fun time we had on our family day!
When we got home, everyone was pooped.  After nap time, Daddy finally laid down to rest and Nolan decided to take another nap on top of Daddy.
We had a fantastic spring break and hope you did too!

  1. Loved catching up on your blog! How lucky that the ice cream truck came down your street! I have not seen one of those in a long time! Poor Nolan's lip, glad you got a pic for memory sake. Oh and that is hilarious how they dress up and Nolan gets the little pink dress - too funny! I remember dressing my brother up in my dance outfits when I was little. I am amazed at how good they are at puzzles! They have so much fun together, it is really cute to see!
