When we got home from class, I noticed Piper had two bad infections on the skin inside her ears. Also, she was licking the hair off her front leg. She was so uncomfortable that we decided she needed to go to the emergency vet clinic. She was treated and given this beautiful lampshade collar to help her not to lick or scratch until things heal up. We still don't know why these things popped up, but we are glad she is doing better. She's still getting the hang of the collar and runs into doorways, tables, couches, etc. It's funny and sad at the same time. Poor girl!
On Saturday night, the Dills came over to babysit for us while Darin and I took a couples "date night" cooking class to celebrate our anniversary (which was in June). We had so much fun! Our chef prepared each course of our four-course meal, and then we made it at our stations. After we made each course, we got to eat it!! Yum!! We had an amazing time. I was so impressed with our creations that I took pictures of our courses before Darin and I ate.
Here is our first course...Heirloom Tomato Caprese Salad with a Fig Balsamic Reduction
Second Course: Moroccan Crab Cakes with Cilantro-Cumin Aioli
Third Course: French Classic Tournedos Rossini (seared filet topped with foie gras, beef broth/wine reduction, and truffles) There are also potatoes and green beans on our plate.
Final Course...Dessert! We made Strawberries Romanoff with Vanilla Bean Creme (Strawberries were marinated in orange liqueur, orange juice, orange zest, and sugar)
So fun!! It was so nice to take a break from the kids and spend some time together. Thanks Gwyn and Kevin for babysitting!!! We really enjoyed ourselves and are so lucky to have lots of family nearby willing to watch our kids!

That's fun that you guys and the kids are taking a music class, I bet they are really going to enjoy that. Poor Piper, she looks pretty cute though! :) And OH MY GOSH, what an amazing meal you and Darin made. I don't even know what half of the stuff is that you guys made! What a fun idea for an anniversary activity!
ReplyDeleteYum - the culinary center!!! I LOVE that place!!! Craig and I have done a couple classes together there and my mom and I have done a few. It's been a while, though. Every class we've done has been amazing! What a fun date night!
