These crazy little munchkins turned 7! This year Nolan asked for a soccer themed birthday (cake and decorations) and Maya asked for lavendar owls. I was excited to test my cake-making skills and this year was the most fun so far!
To make beautiful cakes, first you must make a mess!!
I used two semi-circle cake pans to make this round cake and then I cut off the very bottom so it would sit flat.
The spherical cake pan came with instructions for making different sports balls so I followed the pattern to make this soccer ball by cutting out pentagon black fondant and trying to keep the white in hexagons as much as possible. This was tricky!
Turned out pretty good!
This owl has a belly made of white fondant and lavender feathers made with icing.
The finished product! I LOVED this cake. My favorite creation so far. I'm so glad Maya loved it too!
Blowing out the candles!
Nolan loved his cake as well and it was a lot of fun to make too.
Photo bomb!
Photo bomb #2!
On their actual birthday the kids opened presents in the morning and it was so much fun to watch their faces.
But the big present of the day was a surprise so we told the kids to sit at the piano....
SURPRISE! They were SOOOO excited!
Always time for some goofy poses!
Look at this cool dude with his new ipod. Thanks Papa and Nonnie!
We love these two with all of our hearts. How did we get so lucky? Happiest of birthdays to our favorite boy and girl in the world!
