Blueberry picking!

We were lucky enough to go blueberry picking TWICE this year!  The first time we went with some friends from Maya and Nolan's preschool.  We went to The Berry Patch in Cleveland, Missouri.  It's about a 20-25 minute drive from home but it's worth it!

The first time we went, it was only the 2nd day of blueberry picking season.  The patch we picked was so far away (they were asking us to pick in patches 11 and 12 that day) that we hitched a ride in the back of a truck and still had quite a walk ahead of us.  I was amazed how big the blueberry patches were!
The kids and I tried hard to find the ripe blueberries.  Most of them were not quite ripe--probably the type that were better for baking than eating.
But we had a great time with our friends picking the blueberries!  We also got blueberry muffins and blueberry lemonade, along with some blueberry syrup to take home!
Here are the kids--Ethan (a younger brother), Nolan, Brandon, Daniel, Bella and Maya!

A couple of weeks later, we made another trip to The Berry Patch with Lana, Janae and Gwyn.
 This trip was more "fruitful"!
We bought our yummy muffins and blueberry lemonade again!
We ended up with quite a haul!  The berries were so sweet and delicious....we couldn't wait to wash and eat them all!!  We had a fun rest of our day too.  We stopped for lunch at Freddy's with the kids and then went to the Legends and bought fireworks--my first time!  Getting ready for the Fourth of July!
