Faulkner's Ranch

A couple of weeks ago Maya, Nolan and I went to a new pumpkin patch called Faulkner's Ranch in Missouri.  We had so much fun and will plan to go back in the future.  First, we packed a picnic lunch.  We decided to eat it in the back of the car first.
Once we went in, we fed some animals (sheep, alpaca, bison!) and then decided to go on a hay ride.
Here are the kids ready for the ride!
Along with scarecrows, they had hay bales painted and formed into shapes on the ride.  So clever and very well done.  They had pink pigs with curly tails too.
One of Maya's favorite things (beside the playground slide, which she always loves) were these pony swings.
Nolan was drawn to these pedal cars.  They were a little big for him, but he never quits when he puts his mind to something!
Maya found a comfy spot on the fence to watch Nolan pedal his heart out.
They also had these rocking horses and a cattle head for the kids to practice "roping."  It was quite challenging!
Nolan took a turn too! One more thing that was interesting for me as a grown-up was a challenging mental maze.  They had straw bales of various lengths set up in a maze format.  There was a sign that told us you could not turn left in the maze but you had to navigate through the maze from the entrance at the right to the exit on the left.  You had to do it through a series of loops since you could only go straight or turn right, but none of the grown ups there could figure it out.  It was fun to be challenged like that.
Noley going up the ladder to go down the slide!

We also went through a corn maze, a kid's obstacle course, and jumped on some inflatables among other things.  At the end, after the kids played some bean bag games, they each wanted a turn with the camera.   Nolan took this picture of Maya and me.
Maya took this one of Nolan and me.  Quite the photographer, eh?
We had a great time and the weather was so beautiful we didn't want to leave!  I am really treasuring these years of being home with my kids...what a blessing to be able to enjoy so much time with these cuties!
