Deanna Rose

Well, we finally had some beautiful weather and the kids and I made an impromptu visit to Deanna Rose one afternoon.  We had so much fun, of course, and ended up being there almost 4 hours.  I think we covered every inch of the park!

After hitting the playground, chickens, school house and gold-panning station, we went to the main barn.  Along with two milking cows, 2 indoor calves and some other little animals, they also had a miniature pig there this time.  As we walked around in walked a volunteer who showed us all the tricks he could do!  The kids were enthralled.  Don't you love how Nolan has his hands in his pockets?  Adorable.
On the day we visited, they also had some new calves outside the main barn and they were so friendly!  This one little (big) guy came wandering over when we called him and let us pet him!
Nolan also got to try out his milking skills.  I think we have a farmer in the making.

As we were leaving the barn area, they have this cow bench that the kids wanted to sit on.  I thought it was a perfect photo op and the kids indulged me....sort of.  After some seat swapping ("No, I want to be on that side!"), they finally sat down.  No smiles yet.
Nolan really wanted to put his arm around Maya for this photo.  She kept trying to push it off.
On...off...on...off....This went on for awhile and they turned into two giggly kids again!
Love the choke hold!  I WILL HUG YOU!

After that we went to feed the baby goats.

And we rode the horses!  Nolan was super excited this year to do it.  We rode a girl horse named Darby.
Cheese!
The fact that the horse was a girl (and Nolan made it look like a lot of fun) swayed Maya to give it a try.  She didn't have any strong feelings about doing it at first, but once she rode, she had a lot of fun!!!
After feeding some fish and chickens, we stopped for a cool break with some yummy ice cream.  Maya really wanted to take some pictures with my camera, and here is one of her shots!  Not bad, eh?

We then went to see the butterfly gardens, vegetable gardens, goats, peacock, owls and the super long red slide.  Each time I go, I am amazed at how much Deanna Rose has to offer at such a low price point.  We always have so much fun!!!
Home we go-- until next time!!!
