Bonding with Papa and Nonnie!

My mom and dad came for a visit earlier this month and we had a great time playing with them. Maya and Nolan are used to seeing them on Skype, so seeing them in person was a real treat! The weather was fabulous, so we spent as much time outdoors as we could. Darin's tomatoes were still producing, so M & N showed Papa and Nonnie how they help Daddy harvest (and eat) them. Yum!

Seeee? Nolan has one too!!

We also got to harvest the raspberries, which has become part of our "Daddy's home from work" routine around here. After the hello hugs and kisses, Daddy changes his clothes and then it's time to run outside and look for raspberries to eat! If you ask them, Maya and Nolan will tell you, "Pick the red ones, not the pink ones!"

We also had plenty of time on the swings. I think Nonnie's arms are still tired from pushing! This picture was harder to capture than you might think---lots of moving parts!

My dad was also playing around with my camera since recently got one just like it. He snapped this photo of Nolan looking down at everyone playing in his yard.

And the only thing that could stop Nolan from going down his slide.....Spiderwebs! So Nonnie came to the rescue, climbing up into the clubhouse with her trusty kleenex to wipe those webs away for the Noley-man! This is a job mommy avoids, so it is much appreciated.

We also had many lazy mornings of eating pancakes, playing puzzle (as my brother-in-law Kevin would say) and enjoying each other's company. Here is Daddy sporting a fireman's hat, doing a Sesame Street puzzle and an espresso. Ahhhhhhh....every man's dream.

And of course, there was lots of reading!! I think every visitor to our house has been somehow coerced into reading books to Maya and Nolan. Papa read quite a few.

A great picture of the 4 of them!

Like I said, we tried to get out as much as possible. One morning we took a walk around the neighborhood, and another morning we took a LONG walk through the park.

Nonnie helped put the kids to bed at night too. Surprise surprise....more reading!!! And don't you love Maya's Santa pj's in October?

And Nonnie, ever the musician, played the inflatable guitar whilst singing. She has quite the giggling audience! Encore!

Papa and Nonnie also brought presents with them. Nolan got 4 very scary dinosaurs (T-Rex being his favorite) in a home-made, yet manly, camo drawstring bag.

And Maya made friends with a new plush dinosaur which she quickly named Becky. Thanks Papa and Nonnie!!

This picture is probably my favorite. Every morning Maya watched Papa make a huge bowl of super-deluxe cereal. Being a cereal lover herself, she was very impressed while watching Papa mix 2 kinds of cereal in a huge bowl, put 2 types of fruit on top, and then pour on the milk and eat it. She became adventurous herself by mixing Cheerios and corn flakes and now is starting to eat fruit on her cereal too!! Aren't they cute together!?

Stay tuned for more Papa and Nonnie adventures!
