Trimming the tree

Last weekend we took a family trip to pick out our Christmas tree! The windchill must have been in the teens, but we bundled up and picked our tree as a family...as quickly as possible. When we got it home, the kids helped mommy and daddy decorate with lights and ornaments. Their idea of putting an ornament on the tree consists of laying the ornament on a tree branch and watching it fall to the ground, and then saying, "uh oh." But they get an "A" for effort!!!

Here is Maya burying her ornament deep in the tree.

Nolan also got to work trimming the tree, although he looks so serious!

Last Christmas, we got our first personalized family ornament. This year, I thought it was super cute when Maya held it and started talking about the Mommy, Daddy and baby gingerbread men.

Nolan's little hands loved playing with this Santa on his reindeer. I believe Nolan even pretended to have the reindeer and Santa take a walk on our coffee table before "hanging" them in the tree.

Of course, the goal behind putting our tree up was getting our Christmas card photo taken!! Maya was easy to capture in a good mood. While Nolan ran around and was generally difficult to capture in a picture sitting in front of the tree, Maya posed for many funny and cute photos.

Finally Mommy and Daddy wised up and BRIBED them!! Homemade cookies always do the trick!

These cookies are delicious, mom!

Can we please have just one more?

Happy Holidays everyone!!!

By the way, it is worth mentioning that we got this last shot by having Daddy grab a bow from a Christmas package and "dance" it on my head while I took the shot. Score for Mommy and Daddy!!

  1. Nothing wrong with bribing to get good pictures! :) We have to do the same exact thing with Cole and it works wonders! Wouldn't it be so much easier if they actually liked getting pictures taken and sat still for them? :) Great seeing you guys this week, thanks again for having us over! They were so cute playing together.
