Yesterday Maya and Nolan turned 14 months old. It is so amazing to see their progress and how much they have learned in the last year!
Here are a few things about what the kids are up to:
Nolan:
He is walking (and running) everywhere! He also loves to throw everything he can get his hands on and has quite a good arm. He can also stomp his feet, clap, and he loves to giggle. He is very ticklish and LOVES to give hugs. If I open my arms up wide, he runs from across the room to hug me. I hope that never ends! He has also recently learned how to crawl down stairs (see post below) and walk backwards. He is also very attached to Mommy and Daddy and cries a lot if we walk away, even for a second. He has also started holding out his hand to indicate that he wants something. He sleeps 12 hours at night every night and has not woken up in the middle of the night since he was about 6 months old...even if he is sick with a cold or has a fever. I find that amazing!
Maya:
She is crusing everywhere and ALMOST walking. She has taken 3-6 controlled steps every day for the last week, but doesn't yet have the desire to make that her #1 mode of transport. She can point to hair, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, hands and belly button and has recently started saying "doggie." She can also point to light, door, clock, and so many other things I cannot possibly count. She is great at playing by herself and still loves to dance to music. She also LOVES books and would probably sit and read with me for hours if I'd let her. She is also obsessed with Piper and likes to know where she is at all times. Both kids like to climb over Piper and sweet Piper puts up with them very well.
Here is cutie pie Maya at breakfast giving me my morning sunshine!
For Christmas, Grampa Bob got Maya this super-chic pink faux-fur vest. The weather finally cooperated with us and she wore it out last week for the first time. She LOVED it!
See her checking it out? She kept giggling every time she looked down at herself. My little fashionista!
Last week we went to Grandad's house for a visit. Nolan would disappear now and then and I followed him to discover him grabbing a handful of dirt and throwing it on the floor! Naughty Nolan! Here I am catching him "in the act." Doesn't he look like a deer in headlights? Guess he and dirt really hit it off in San Diego and he wanted to reconnect again. Sorry Grandad.
They loved to play with the toys Grandad got out for them. The animals were a special hit and the kids took turns handing them to Grandad.
Later that day, the kids got much more brave with our stairs. They love to climb up, but until recently, they were afraid to come down. No more! Nolan is a pro in sliding down and Maya is well on her way...she just needs help getting started. I thought this was such a cute picture of them perched on top of the stairs next to each other.
FINALLY the kids love their sippy cups. They also love cows milk. Yay! Again, I thought this was so cute the way they copy each other and drink at the same time.

Man - just looking at these pictures makes me smile. What a great niece & nephew I have!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the cute pictures Gretchen! And I LOVE the blurbs about what each kiddo is up to. Swoon. They are so great!
ReplyDeleteAlso - love the new stroller! What kind is it?
Mary Anne, the stroller is an Baby Trend Expedition double jogger we got at Babies R Us. It isn't the best out there, but it works well for us since I'm a walker and not a jogger and we had a 20% off coupon.
