Maya's first haircut

Today Maya got her first haircut!! We did the special "first haircut" ordeal at Shear Madness since we did the same for Nolan when he was 11 months old. They take a before and after picture, wrap up a lock of hair, and give the kid a certificate. I thought it might be nice to even out the ends a little on Maya's mop. She kept waffling about if she was excited or scared about this first cut...probably because she goes with Nolan each time he gets his done but he cries most of the time. Mixed emotions....

Here she is getting ready for her turn!!

And the crying begins...

Some of the phrases she uttered during the experience:

"I don't want a haircut."

"I can't say 'cheese!'"

"I don't like her." (referring to the hairstylist)

"I don't want a sucker."

After awhile the hairstylist asked her for the 4th time if she wanted to watch the backyardigans on tv. Cartoons, you say?

Boy that sucker sounds good now!

And here is the pretty girl afterwards!! She even got a little braid in her hair. So pretty!

To give you some idea of how much we cut, it was about 1 1/2" -2" at most on the very bottom, and just evening up the sides.

  1. Love the caption, "Cartoons you say?" Great shot. She is adorable. Amazing how a little thing like a haircut can make her look older. :)
