Maya and Nolan turned 1 today. Their birthday party went so well...filled with lots of family, food, cake, and fun....we loved having everyone come over and celebrate the big day!!! We planned a farm theme, complete with party hats, balloons, and farm-themed food and cake.
Here is mommy and the birthday girl with our party hats on.
Our farm-themed "watering hole."
The "chicken feed" and farm decorations. I forgot to take pictures of the other food. I labeled the pulled pork "oink" and the macaroni and cheese "mooooooo" in honor of the pig and cow. We had vegetables labeled "Nolan's garden" and a fruit bowl called "Maya's orchard." There were also pretzels labeled "hay."
Part of the birthday sign, also showing off part of the photo display. There were more pictures on the entry wall.
I don't know why this picture turned sideways. This is the cow cake for Nolan. I made it with vanilla pound cake, vanilla buttercream icing, and then covered it with fondant. I used black icing for the nose and spots. It was so much fun to make the cakes!!! Darin took Friday off of work for me to have the whole day to work on them. I had already baked the cakes, whipped the icing, and bought the materials, and it still took me all day! I loved it!
Maya's pig cake. I colored the white fondant with pink coloring in 2 batches...1 light pink, 1 bright pink.

What a fantastic birthday party!!! You are a super mom, Gretchen. I especially love the pics of Maya (1) and Nolan (so big)!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!!! What a WONDERFUL party! You did SUCH a good job! I can't believe the cakes, they look amazing! I've never used fondant before, I am too scared to! But you did such a great job with it! THe b-day sign and pictures looked so cute, great job! I love all the decorations and farm themed food! I love the shirts the kids were wearing ( I saw Maya's said Maya and 1, I'm assuming Nolan's was the same). So So cute! I'm going to have to find out where you got those! I cannot believe they are one already!
